There are one million reasons why learning a new language is very important. Firstly, it allows you to meet new people from different countries. It helps you to see things from a different perspective and get a deeper understanding of another culture. It also helps you to become a better listener. There are even studies which have shown that people who speak two or more languages are less likely to suffer from dementia later in life!
Those are all reasons to learn a foreign language – but did you know that there are still more than 6,000 languages spoken in the world today? Well, why choose English?
1. ENGLISH IS A GLOBAL LANGUAGE
English is the most commonly spoken language in the world. A British Council Study indicates that approximately 800 million people are non-native speakers of English compared to "only" 400 million who speak English as a first language.
2. ENGLISH WILL HELP YOU GET A (BETTER) JOB
Companies are becoming more international, and English is listed as an essential skill for more and more jobs. English is the language of science, aviation, computers, diplomacy, marketing and tourism amongst many other highly paid career sectors.
3.ENGLISH IS THE LANGUAGE OF THE MEDIA
Because of the prominence of Hollywood and the BBC in global media, an enormous amount of films, TV series and documentaries are written in English. Also, many of the world’s biggest news outlets, including TV, newspapers, magazines and radio, are produced in English. And most importantly, approximately 55% of Internet content is in English!
4. ENGLISH MAKES IT EASIER TO TRAVEL
As I said before, English is a global language. This means that whether you’re working in Dubai, or travelling in South America, studying English can help you have a conversation with people from all over the world. Even if you don’t find other travellers or local people that speak your first language, you are almost guaranteed to find someone who speaks some English.
5. ENGLISH ALLOWS YOU TO STUDY ALL OVER THE WORLD
Since English is spoken in so many different countries there are thousands of schools and universities around the world that offer programmes in English. When you have a good level of English, there are many opportunities for you to find an appropriate school and course to suit your needs. Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, France, Germany are only a few of the countries who offer University courses in English. Obviously, you can also go to English speaking countries such as Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Malta, Canada and the US.
These are only some of the reasons why you should improve your level of English. I am sure you will have at least one or two more reasons to improve your English and please get in touch if you need any help with that.
This is how we can help you improve your English:
It is much more than an online English course. You will join live lessons with students from all over the world and attend social events together.
